Grace Car Ministry
The GRACE Car Ministry is a ministry of Grace United Methodist Church in cooperation with Southern Community Services. It has been in existence for over ten years and typically gives away between 10 and 20 cars a year to families in need in York County.
Our Mission: To provide a vehicle for persons in the York area who meet the criteria of need and ability. This ministry provides usable cars for the purpose of employment and self-sufficiency.
Ministry Description: Cars are received as donations from individuals to Grace United Methodist church. Recipients of the donated cars are approved through an evaluation process at the Southern Community Services (see below). Funding for this program is obtained through selling, as salvage, any vehicles that are not determined to be serviceable and from cash donations.
General: Vehicles that are re-donated to needy families may get a tax right off equal to the Kelly Blue book Private sale value. Donated vehicles that are sold for salvage may get a tax right off equal to the value the vehicle is sold for salvage.
